TIFFANY LEADED CRYSTAL SCROLL MOTIF BOWL
From the Louis Comfort Tiffany Collection. Scroll bowl with a raised swirl motif, scalloped rim and acid etched brand stamped underside. No chips or cracks. Perfect for use of display.
Tiffany and Co was founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany who purchased gemstones from European aristocrats, allowing the US elite to purchase major jewels at home for the first time. His son, Louis Comfort Tiffany, known for his innovation in decorative glass work, became the company’s first Design Director in 1902. Lewis Comfort Tiffany’s colorful, naturalistic aesthetic remains a major inspiration for Tiffany designers today. All of the Tiffany pieces offered today are lead crystal, achieved by adding lead oxides to glass that results in a heavier, highly reflective glass. Lead crystal gives off a distinctive clear ping-sound when struck.
